Barton Certified – Masters Level – 30 Hours Orton Gillingham Educator Training
Hello! My name is Deb Cullen and I am very proud to be a part of the dynamic team at WNY Dyslexia Specialists. My career as an educator began in 1993 after I received my Master’s of Science degree in Elementary Education from SUNY Brockport. I have been a second grade teacher and a nursery school teacher in private schools. My daughter was diagnosed with dyslexia at age 12, after many years of confusion and frustration with the lack of knowledge and proper support from her public school.
I was searching for a tutor or program that would help, and found Jennifer Hoffman’s name. After talking with Jennifer, I decided I wanted to make this my life’s mission – to help other children and families so they don’t have to experience what we went through. I started teaching dyslexic students in 2016, and have been honored to graduate two students from the Barton Reading and Spelling System. I have earned my masters level Barton certification. This is the highest level of Barton certification. I have also completed and passed the Orton-Gillingham Basic Language (Level 1) course.
