Barton Certified – Masters Level – 70 Hours Orton Gillingham Associate Level Training
Hello! My name is Deb Cullen, and I am very proud to be a part of WNY Dyslexia Specialists. My career as an educator began in 1993 after I received my Master’s of Science degree in Elementary Education from SUNY Brockport. I have been a second-grade teacher and a nursery school teacher in private schools.
My daughter was diagnosed with dyslexia at age 12, after many years of confusion and frustration with the lack of knowledge and proper support from her public school. I was searching for a tutor or program that would help, and found Jennifer Hoffman. After talking with Jennifer, I decided I wanted to make this my life’s mission – to help other children and families so they don’t have to experience what we went through. I began instructing students using the Barton Reading and Spelling System in 2016. Since then, I have been certified at the Beginning, Advanced and Masters level and have graduated 5 students from the program. In addition, I have completed 70 hours of Orton Gillingham training through the Associate Level.
